Of course, the main reason we visited the pier was to observe the local wildlife, namely the sea lions. It was awesome to see them chilling on the jetties and playing and being boisterous. You could watch them for hours, and it seems like they are always there as they weren't moving much! It is free and there is even a small sea lion centre located just behind the viewing area. Other than the sea lions there is plenty more to do on the pier with some fairground type rides and plenty of shops and restaurants. Certainly visit if you're stopping off in San Francisco!
