We visited the 'Gecko' run establishments three times while in Hanoi. There were two almost right by our hotel (the Rendezvous Hotel), and the food they served was varied and adapted to western taste; burgers, wraps, among more traditional Vietnamese dishes. It was relatively cheap, we spent around 200K-300K VND per meal for two people, thus overall it was an easy solution for dinners. We frequently had spring rolls to start which were tasty, and always made use of the permanent 'happy hour' (2X beer for 35K VND). They have a funky traveler orientated design with signed banknotes under the tables; you can add one yourself if you visit.
On the other hand, a few drawbacks were the size, good if you get a seat as it's quick service, however it gets full quickly so you may not get a seat later on. They did ask for a review which I never appreciate; if your service is good enough then you should trust people to leave positive reviews rather than trying to pressure them on the spot. Finally, I do question the cleanliness of the kitchen, no doubt it's better than many businesses in Hanoi, however I did see the chef appear to taste the soup and continue stirring with the same spoon on one occasion...
