Lizards
4*
I wanted to visit mainly to see the resident Asian water monitor lizards. I didn't believe that these giant creatures actually roamed the park quite so freely and thought that even if so, it would require a lot of luck to spot one, alas I was very wrong! After about 5 minutes of walking we got to the main lake and in the river a metre long lizard was peacefully swimming along. Followed by this we spotted many lizards just wondering around the grassy areas among locals who were relaxing and having lunch. It was a cool experience, not one I don't think you'd get in any other city park in the world (correct me if I'm wrong).
Other than that, the park is well maintained and clean, there were gardeners watering plants and so on. There was some construction-type work underway when we were there, however I think it was just a one off event as it appeared to be the remains of some kind of concert? There are cute two-person swan-shaped boats you can take out on the main lake at very reasonable prices, I think it was 40 baht for 30 minutes with a 40 baht deposit. It's very easy to find and there is good shade to cover you from midday/afternoon sun and heat. I didn't see if there were any places to eat or sit down, though I'm sure this would be mentioned in another review if there is. It wasn't very busy either making it a peaceful experience, unless you get scared of big lizards!
