Accommodation - Crowne Plaza New Orleans-Airport Review

Overall our stay here was pleasant. The hotel provides a free shuttle to and from the airport; on arrival we simply followed the instructions they provided in an email that we requested beforehand and the shuttle was waiting just outside of the arrival hall and got us to the hotel in a matter of minutes. Check in was okay, they do require a security deposit but this is returned upon departure.

The rooms were spacious and clean and had good amenities, albeit there was no safe but most hotels/motels don't seem to have one anyway. There were other facilities like a gym which was open, and the pool but I'm not sure if this is closed during the winter months. We slept fine; the planes are very loud as the Crowne Plaza is situated at the end of the runway, however they weren't too annoying, we also asked for a quiet room when making a reservation so this could of perhaps helped. We didn't have breakfast as it was at an extra cost however the breakfast room did look clean and was probably okay.

Location-wise this is probably the only let down of the hotel if you are intending on visiting downtown New Orleans. Of course if you are just looking for somewhere near the airport then this is perfect, but if you are travelling to central NO and you don't have a car then it can be very difficult! The public transport is highly unreliable, we took the Jet bus from a stop nearby (which you have to cross an almost impossible road to get to) and this bus turned up randomly and took over an hour each way to get near downtown. The Jet bus is also a separate company to the RTA which is worth noting, although on the app there is an option to buy a day ticket which covers both companies so you can use all the services (note: the RTA is abysmal so you probably won't even use them). Also, there are some fast-food outlets nearby which are good for a meal or late night snack, but again you have to cross a multi lane highway to reach them.

Check-out was simple and the shuttle took me straight back to the airport, so in conclusion I would recommend staying here as the price per night (at least when we went [mid February]) was good and the hotel was nice, but it would be worthwhile having a car or having the funds to get an Uber/Lyft downtown (but then it would probably be worth just paying more per night to stay somewhere closer to central NO).
