Cool Experience
4*

The escalator(s) is useful for shipping you up some of the steeper hills on Hong Kong Island, and it's a fun activity riding these long, smooth individual escalators. They are broken up (it's not one long escalator) with points in between to disembark which is useful. When we went, a few sections were under construction so we had to walk; it is a good activity to add to a day of exploring.

Surprisingly Good
5*

Being a free attraction I wasn't expecting too much, just various flower species and water features etc. However there is so much more in this amazing place! Other than the spectacular flowers and plants, there were monkeys, orangutans, tortoises, meerkats, among other species of animals, and an avery section with many fascinating local birds. There is plenty to do for children like play areas, and nice areas to sit and relax within the garden and it's facilities which are immaculately maintained. We visited on an extremely quite day so it made the experience all the more memorable. Being a free activity, if you are nearby then I wholeheartedly recommend it; just an hour visit would be enough to appreciate it.

Convenient and Cheap
5*

The Star Ferry is an icon of Hong Kong, useful for transport between islands and surprisingly cheap in relation to the metro for example. The boats are frequent enough, although some routes stop fairly early in the day. There are good views and the journeys are generally smooth and short. The only concern I had was the ropes they use to secure the boat to the dock which came close to snapping and potentially injuring people, a safety hazard, thus we made sure to sit away from areas close to them on subsequent journeys.

As a means for transport, or a way to view Hong Kong from the water, the Star Ferries are extremely convenient.
