Impressive & Useful!
4*

This was both a nice piece of architecture to observe and also a orderly and fairly easy building to use when getting the train. It is a historic building and makes for great photos, and its functionality as an operating train station is highly useful. I would suggest paying this landmark a visit, even if you're not getting the train.

Penguins 🐧
4*

We decided to go to St. Kilda pier in the evening to see the penguins which were really sweet.

I recommend getting there 45 minutes before sunset if you'd like to get a close up view as it does get very busy. The prime time for the penguins to come to the pier is around sunset and we saw quite a few!

It is free to go to the pier, and there are some restaurants and shops close by. The bus/tram route back to the city is also nearby which is useful.

Overall, I would definitely recommend visiting as the penguins are really cute and it is nice to see the beach and city from a distance at sunset.

Busy
3*

Admittedly we visited during the school holidays so the museum was packed full of children and their parents. We got in for free as [overseas and domestic] students get free admission which was great!

This place is a fair distance out of the city centre and we had to get the train from Southern Cross station to Spotswood and walk to reach Scienceworks.

The activities and exhibitions were actually very good and there was lots of interact-able exhibits which kept everyone interested. At the same time it still remained educational meaning people were learning and having fun. We didn't do any of the paid exhibitions so I can't comment on that, but in total we spent about 2 hours there before we had seen and done mostly everything.

I would definitely recommend this place to families with young children, but for adult visitors to Melbourne I would say it is probably not worth the time and money in travelling, unless of course you really love science!
