Australian culture
4*

Not being quite the art critique's we visited the art gallery as 'something to do'. Of course it is not on the same level as those galleries in Paris or even the National Gallery in London (all of which I have visited) but that was not expected. For its size it was a nice art gallery with several floors (albeit the ground floor was almost completely closed for renovation (June 2018)) showing different themes of art and focused on Australian heritage throughout. Free wifi was a bonus and could be used interactively with the exhibits. There is a cloakroom at the entrance to store bags and coats and plenty of facilities (eating, toilets...) within. Overall, being free it is definitely worth a visit and I'm sure more avid art enthusiasts would take more than I did, but I still enjoyed observing the numerous exhibits and experiencing some Australian culture.

Okay
3*

As students [domestic or foreign] we got into the museum for free. The fact we got in for free is why I allocate it 3 stars, if we had paid the $15AUD adult ticket price then I feel I would've been disappointed.

This isn't to say the museum is bad, it just wasn't our type of thing and I believe it is aimed more at people who want a leisurely stroll and to take in lots of information and knowledge with not much in the way of 'interactivity'. It wasn't busy when we visited and the exhibits were interesting, and overall the area was well maintained. We didn't spend more than two hours here, but for someone interested highly in the topic then I could imagine that one could spend three or more hours here.

Lovely architecture
4*

St. Paul's Cathedral is located opposite the iconic Flinders Street Station and it is really beautiful.

It is free to enter and look around, but you are not allowed to take photos of the inside unless you have a license which is available inside the cathedral.

We only spent around 20 minutes looking inside the cathedral which I think is enough time to take in the beauty and unique features. You can also attend mass at certain times which are listed outside the cathedral.

I would recommend visiting if you're staying in Melbourne!
